Places to visit

Thornton Hall Farm

Keeping things very local, just a short five minute drive away from Deerstone Glamping is Thornton Hall Farm, offering activities for all age groups.

Thornton Hall Farm is great for a day out with the kids and, on evenings, they host regular events including live music! Within easy reach of the campsite this is a must visit attraction.

Historic market town of Skipton; Gateway to the Dales

Slightly further afield but easily accessible by a 15 minute drive is the historic market town of Skipton; Gateway to the Dales.

Take a stroll down the cobbled high street full of bustling Market Stalls (on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday) and see the unusual and unique items the vendors have for sale.

How about with some local history? Skipton Castle is open to the public once again and offers one of the best kept Castles in England. You can even visit the dungeons, should you be brave enough!

Again, a fine selection of cafes, pubs and shops can be found with everything from fresh hot chocolates, to Starbucks, cakes and even a Turkish cafe! The town regularly hosts local events, which we are more than happy to keep you informed about.

Plenty of footpaths ranging from 2 to 20 mile walks

For those of you more up for a rugged walk or a bike ride, well, there’s more than enough choice. From the Glamping site with the most amazing views, you can find plenty of footpaths ranging from 2 to 20 mile walks.

Fancy more of a challenge? You can walk to Skipton, experience all of the above, stop for a drink (or three!) and head back. The walk takes you along either river banks, woodland or over the moors and hills which is a stunning way to see the local scenery.

Bolton Abbey – The Ancient Woodland

Nearby, accessible with just a 30 minute drive, is one of Yorkshire’s most visited attractions – Bolton Abbey.

The Ancient Woodland is simply jaw dropping, on the way you’ll pass the History filled ruins of the Abbey, walk along well-maintained paths along the River until entering Strid Wood – an area of Special Scientific Interest.

An easy to plan, family friendly activity it is one not to be missed. For the roughy-toughy ramblers there are walks all over the Dales and Pennines, from Ingleton on with its distinct Waterfalls to Malham and the captivating Cove and Gordale Scar; an unbelievable work of art sculpted by nature itself.

Mythical, history strewn Pendle Hill.

Finally, no highlight of local events and attractions would be complete without mentioning the mythical, history strewn Pendle Hill.

Linked forever to the Witch Trials of 17th Century England, Pendle Hill proves a popular destination for visitors to the area.

Stroll along the famous Pendle Hill Witches walking route and learn all about what happened in what is now a gorgeous part of the world.

If you would like to see the Pennine from the top, we absolutely recommend and the views are simply delightful. Our kids and dogs love this gorgeous walk.

For younger children there’s also the Pendle Sculpture Trail, a favourite amongst the younger age groups and a great, relaxing walk with plenty to see and discover. A visit to Pendle Hill is recommended, just don’t tell the kids the stories just before bed!

We've just returned from a weekend stay at Deerstone and we absolutely loved it! They really have thought of absolutely everything to make the stay as comfortable as possible and to limit the amount of things you need to bring yourself. There's a chest infection the domestic containing all the cooking equipment, crockery and cutlery you need, with a camping stove to cook on. Wine glasses, ceramic mugs, and the complimentary bottle of wine was a lovely touch. The rooms are equipped with oil heaters, a log burner and Dyson hot & cold fan, for all the heat you need to stay comfortable. The communal kitchen is fully equipped with a kettle and microwave to make cooking even easier, with ample takeaway options that deliver to site too! The wood fired hot tubs are brilliant and heat up very quickly and retain their heat overnight so they don't take much at all to get back to temperature the next day. And the on site sauna (perfect place to catch a sunset from), lounge room and cinema room just complete the luxury of the place and are so beautifully decorated. The toilets and showers are spotlessly clean and also have heat lamps to make those early morning trips to the toilet a lot more bearable! There site is beautiful and there are plenty of lovely walks around the area. The staff are fantastic and couldn't do more to help, honestly can't fault this place at all and we will be back! Thank you so much.

We had an amazing stay - the site and domes felt truly unique, well thought out and attention to detail. We were lucky with the weather and we’re treated with blinding sunset before hitting the hot tub (careful with the wood) Karin was fantastic - she set us up, hauled our gear up to the dome and nothing was too much trouble - we will be back

Our stay at Deerstone Glamping was absolutely outstanding thanks to Karin and the fantastic experience she created for us. From the moment I booked, Karin’s communication was amazing, she made everything easy and seamless, all the way through to our check out. Karin went above and beyond to make our stay memorable, especially with the thoughtful touches she added to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday. Our pod was decorated, and the effort Karin put into the details was truly amazing. The facilities at Deerstone Glamping are outstandin. It was clean, comfortable, and with all the amenities we could need. We loved every moment and can’t wait to return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and special getaway! The views were incredible
